Sister cars with retrofitted EE controllers survived until 1975, with 660 kept for occasional use. 304 was bought by the Coronation Tramcar Preservation Society in 1975 moving to the TMS Clay Cross store. It later passed to Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society and was kept at Burtonwood. MTPS sold it to the Lancastrian Transport Group (now LTT) in 1984 and it moved to St. Helens Transport Museum in 1986. Restoration took place through the 1990s with much work on the underframe completed and the wiring started. In 2002 it was selected for the Channel 4 'Salvage Squad' programme and moved back to Blackpool for restoration 50 years to the week since it first arrived. Resotration was led by Trust Volunteers with specialist work such as the VAMBAC and Motor overhauls contracted out. Blackpool Transport repainted the car in its original livery. 1455 is a Burlingham bodied Leyland Titan PD2 new in 1955. Burlingham were Blackpool based and 1455 spent most of its Ribble life running from Blackpool Talbot Road depot. It is therefore doubly appropriate for the collection! 1805 was the Trust's first bus acquired back in 1984. It is currentlly receiving attention to the offside body frame 1997 was one of Ribble's first VRs and originally ran in Carlisle though some sisters were based on the Fylde. Latterly with First Red Bus in Devon, the engine compartment is dismantled to allow mechanical work After cleaning, 1455 is parked up in our depot awaiting rectification work 1997 has now been repanelled - nearside Ribble PD2 2687 being prepared for a return to Blackpool from St. Helens Transport Museum Ribble 1995 has been donated to LTT from Tennants Caledonian Brewery in Glasgow. 1995, offside view 1455 has been stripped below the windows for pre-restoration assessment. Withdrawn in 1957 it was converted to engineering car 3 (later 753) and withdrawn after a fire in its diesel generator in 1990. Donated to LTT in 2002, the body restoration commenced in late 2005. Withdrawn in 1957 it was converted to engineering car 3 (later 753) and withdrawn after a fire in its diesel generator in 1990. Donated to LTT in 2002, the body restoration commenced in late 2005. Progress so far (* = latest): Top deck stripped of works car fittings and floor slats Lower deck interior stripped Top deck removed and dispatched to contractor for reframing and re-roofing - presently in kit form awaiting reassembly Lower deck sides stripped. It is shortly to be taken away for rebuilding back to original format 143's top deck has now been removed for rebuild elsewhere. The lower deck sides have been stripped and the ends will follow shortly May 06: Lower deck is now extensively stripped - even the roof is back to its bare roof sticks Sept 06 - lifting the body from the underframe Jan 07 - underframe now separated from trucks and awaiting repairs 143's underframe left for repair work at Bower's derbyshire on 14 Feb New canopy framework has been constructed by Festiniog Railway and has now returned New roof sticks have been fitted, alternate ones sit in metal channels, some of which have been renewed, others reused July 08: 143 was moved within the LTT Depot to more spacious working area to allow refitting of the platforms July 08: Much of 143's interior woodwork has been fitted. Completed roof sticks are also visible Sept 08 - platforms making progress - flooring materials now arrived Nov 08: Canopy fitted, floor in progress Feb 09: Platform Flooring Feb 09: Salloon floor in place. November 2008 saw the purchase of two of the four Fylde rebodied Leyland Atlantean single deckers from Shamrock Buses. This is 7 TKU469K The second Paladin has now arrived. This is former Fylde 4 (TKU462K) and is likely to be a spares donor.
